About me

I'm Karen Piech, and because I love Classical Pilates, I opened a studio devoted to it. That way I could share the benefits of the method with others. I'm a graduate of the world-renowned The Pilates Center in Boulder, Colorado, which was referred to as “The Harvard of Pilates Teacher Training Programs” by Pilates Style magazine. I obtained my Advanced Teacher Training Certificate by completing The Pilates Center’s rigorous, comprehensive, 950-hour program.

How I got here

I tried Pilates at the local gym and discovered that it reduced the pain in my hips. At that time, I was unable to straighten my legs completely at the hip joint to stand upright. When I stood after sitting for any length of time, I was extremely stiff, and had to warm up the hips to be able to walk. I have bone spurs on the head of both femurs and osteoarthritis in one hip, perhaps from the ballet training I’d done in my youth. Pilates made my hips feel better, and I wanted to learn more about it. I took classes for about a year before completing a teacher training program for matwork. I continued taking classes and teaching, and I discovered the benefits of Classical Pilates, exercises true to the original method developed by Joseph Pilates. My hips improved (they are now pain-free), my posture improved, I moved more easily, I had more energy, and I still wanted more. The Pilates Center was recommended to me by a classically trained teacher, and I visited the studio in Boulder, Colorado. The whole thing snowballed from there. I wanted to learn from the wonderful teachers I met there so much that I travelled to Boulder 7 more times during the next year to earn my teaching certificate. Now, not only do I continually work on improving my own well-being, but I also want to share what I’ve learned with others, so they can experience the benefits of Pilates.
